Abstract

To obtain suitable models of power battery pack for control strategy design and performance simulation of hybrid electric vehicle, the open circuit voltage model and the PNGV dynamic model based on equivalent circuits of the power battery are introduced and compared. A characteristic field model based on experiment data is built. For a NiMH power battery pack, parameters of the three models are obtained. Comparisons between the simulation and the experiment show that the characteristic field model and the PNGV dynamic model are more accurate. But the accuracy of the PNGV model depends on the model parameters. And the open circuit voltage model is simple and only suitable for the steady simulation.
