Abstract
The periodic data backup and mission abort policies are vital for the effective operation management of cloud computing systems, ensuring the protection and accessibility of crucial data. A data backup policy specifies the guidelines for regularly creating backups of data in secure environments to mitigate the risk of data loss. Mission abort policies provide a framework for addressing safety risks by outlining immediate response procedures to safeguard data. This study presents an innovative joint optimization framework that integrates periodic backups with mission abort techniques. We develop scheduled periodic backups while employing a number of external shocks as a critical threshold for aborting operations. Within the established joint optimization framework, we rigorously evaluate the system's survivability and the probability of mission success, analyzing optimal backup and abort methodologies to minimize expected costs. Our findings demonstrate that this comprehensive approach not only enhances data security but also significantly mitigates safety risks associated with system failures. This research advances the overall performance, functionality, and resilience of IoT systems, offering a robust framework for addressing the safety challenges posed by their dynamic environmental conditions.
