Method of wind estimation for dispenser weapon based on SINS/GPS

Abstract

To improve the hitting accuracy of air-to-ground weapon, the velocity of lateral wind on the horizontal plane was estimated using the information output by SINS under the conditions of closed-loop guidance without any wind measurement device. According to engineering experience, 6-DOF mathematical model and error model were constructed. Aiming at constant wind and wind varying with height, the estimation algorithm of wind veloity was verified respectively. The estimation error of wind velocity is 4.26 m/s(3σ). The simulation result shows that the lateral ballistic maneuver is the main factor affecting estimation error of lateral wind. It can be ensured that the estimation error of wind velocity is less than 5.72 m/s(3σ) while the maneuverable overload is less than 0.05.
