Abstract
A method is proposed to analyze a product platform, which is fixed common product core for developing and producing a product families. The customer requirements for a product family and the product development process based on function are analyzed to develop a mathematical method to analyze the product family and the product development process based on function are analyzed to develop a mathematical method to analyze the product platform with the quality functional deployment matrix representation of function and entity blocks. The model can be used for old and new product development for a product family. The method enables enterprises to extend their products to adapt to changing markets.
