Abstract

Matching calculations of a high speed and high power density vehicle diesel engine with regulated two-stage turbocharging system are performed. The calculation procedure consists of preliminary calculation, the simplified turbocharger model simulation and the full turbocharger model simulation. The simulation results show that the regulated two-stage turbocharging system can provide high boost pressure, which could be maintained from the maximum torque point to the maximum power point through the regulated function of the bypass valve. It is suitable for the engine that the pressure ratio distribution between low pressure compressor and high pressure compressor is 5:5 at the maximum torque point.
