Abstract
The polymerization kinetics of 2, 2 dinitropropyl acrylate (DNPA) in toluene have been studied with dilatometer method, the polymerization rate equation was determined. At the same time, the behavior of the copolymerization between DNPA and acrylonitrile (AN) has also been studied, the composition of the copolymer was determined using the infrared spectrum method, and the reactivity ratios of DNPA and AN were determined. The results show that the polymerization rate equation for DNPA is Rp=k[M]1.18[I]0.6, which displays that the chain termination reaction is according to the mode of mono- and bi-molecule termination, and the inititate process is dependent of monomer concentration. The reactivity ratios of DNPA and AN are calculated by the Fineman-Ross method, and they are rAN=0.508 and rDNPA=0.157, respectively.
