Abstract

An iterative FE-BE coupling method is used to investigate elastic problems. In order to improve computational efficiency, all degrees of freedom related to the BE region, except for those degrees of freedom associated with interface, are condensed. The stiffness matrix from the boundary element region is taken as the corresponding influential loading matrix in FE equation. An enhanced symmetric matrix, which heavily affects the convergence property of the given method, is assembled into the stiffness matrix of FEM. Numerical examples are presented to show the performance of the given method and compared with the corresponding analytical solutions.
