Abstract

Cyberbullying has emerged as a pervasive and damaging issue in today's digital age, highlighting the need for effective IT solutions. However, the current literature on IT solutions for tackling cyberbullying appears highly fragmented, necessitating a systematic and integrated study. We conduct a systematic literature review of 40 papers on IT solutions for tackling cyberbullying, utilizing the social-technical continuum as a guiding framework. Our review shows that IT solutions for tackling cyberbullying are centered around IT tools for education, automatic detection, and IS design for mitigation, with a predominant focus on technical aspects. Promising future directions include human-computer interaction in chatbot-based intervention, a cross-modal, multi-stage, and multicultural detection model, IS design of game elements, and theory-driven holistic approaches.
