Abstract

A bis-trisurea ligand assembles with the tetraalkylammonium halides to form the flat “stave” structures or “barrels” that encapsulate multiple R₄N⁺ guests, depending on the size of the halide anion (Cl- or Br-) and the R₄N⁺ cation.
