Abstract
The combustion and thermodynamics processes of micro internal combustion swing engine are studied experimentally and numerically in this work. It has been found that flame in cylinders usually propagates in a narrow channel of millimeter magnitude. Because of heat loss at walls, the combustion temperature is not high enough so that soot can be formed in the process of flame propagation. In thermodynamic cycles, there exists an optimum value of ignition advance coefficient at which efficiency will be the largest. However, huge leakages of mass and heat result in lower thermal efficiency. This provides an important basis for future researches on the improvement of swing engine performance.
