Abstract

Frosting and icing are widespread in nature and many industrial fields and lead to numerous safety incidents. As a special status of the ice, frost and its formation process are fundamental in the field of thermodynamics and energy. This chapter introduces the background, process, period, and characteristics of frosting and icing, states the motivation to develop new methods or technologies to solve the frosting and icing problem, and elaborates on the objectives and scopes of the research work presented, as well as the outline of this book.
