Abstract
An integrated design framework based on reconfigurable manufacturing cell for Reconfigurable Manufacturing System (RMS) was put forward. In this framework, design goals, design process and critical technology adopted in each stage were discussed from perspectives of system planning and operation control. Based on the two stages, function model and architecture of computer aided RMS design system were constructed. Moreover, internal and external integrations of system were discussed. Based on the design framework, an integrated system named BI-TRMS which comprised of production system reconfiguration, layout, production scheduling and simulation optimization was developed, and it was applied in aerospace, shipbuilding and ordnance enterprises.
