Abstract

Based on the compressor model with same main blade and splitter blade tip clearance, the influence of dis-tuned tip clearances of main blade and splitter blade on the compressor performances was numerically studied. With the dis-tuned tip clearance models, the FW-H equations were solved by using the unsteady flow results inside the compressor, and the influences of dis-tuned tip clearance on the compressor discrete aerodynamic noise were investigated. Results indicate that the dis-tuned tip clearance configuration with increased splitter tip clearance and decreased main blade tip clearance can decrease the discrete aerodynamic noise of centrifugal compressor effectively, while keeping its performance nearly unchanged.
