Abstract

In view of the fact that the throttle valve of a vehicle shock absorber is easy to fail due to the alternating impact induced from different road conditions, a study of the water hammer pressure to the throttle valve is presented in the paper. A physical model of the check valve with annular slice was built up and the transfer regularity of the water hammer wave near the slice of the valve was analyzed. The partial differential equations of water hammer were solved by the latent line method. Taking the pressure losses in the passing oil orifice into consideration, a water hammer mathematic model of the throttle valve was established. Simulated results show that the water hammer pressure and its periodic numbers can be effectively controlled by enlarging the structure parameters of passing oil orifice to improve the slice reliability. The work in this paper can offer reference in the design of a throttle valve.
