Abstract

Macro-cells with external and removable electrodes were validated by comparison with real panels and modeling and used to optimize the luminous efficacy of real plasma-display-panels (PDPs). The application of the macroscopic PDP tool to optimize the electrode configuration of short-gap discharges towards higher luminous efficacy, as well as its use in conjunction with 2D and 3D modeling to lower the operating voltages is illustrated.
