Abstract
A novel approach is proposed for estimating the illuminant direction and intensity from a single image of a scene illuminated by a light source. This method needs a marker cube, which is used to register and determine rigid transformations relating 2D images to known 3D geometry. Besides a mirror sphere, which is used to estimate the illuminant information by image processing. Experimental results showed that the approach is computationally efficient and the illuminant direction and intensity can be accurately obtained.
