Abstract

The glare caused by strong light increases the probability of traffic accidents. However, there is currently a lack of concise anti glare solutions that can be used 24/7. This paper integrates holographic optical element (HOE) into the windshield, targeting both daytime sunlight and nighttime high beam. Through diffraction and absorption, the potentially dazzling light sources are attenuated to an acceptable level, thereby increasing driving safety. The design method of anti-glare HOE (aHOE) is proposed. Optical experiments show that the fabricated HOE sample has an attenuation rate of about 40% for LED and solar light sources, indicating its anti-glare ability. This work innovatively applies HOE to the field of automotive anti-glare, which is expected to be combined with intelligent cockpits and provide more practical solutions for automotive safety design.
