N2 - Detailed mathematical modelling of the exact radar echo and the software implementation methods are presented in this paper. The analysis of the "stop-and-go" assumption indicates that the assumption cannot be adopted in some circumstances. The implementation methods of the radar echo simulation are discussed and analyzed in detail, and a methodology to implement the high precision echo simulation is provided. Finally, we give an example of the high resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) echo model, and the simulation of the SAR system validates the exact echo model and the implementation methods. Such model and methodology are important in the simulation for a high precision radar system as well as in the algorithm performance evaluation and system performance analysis.
