Abstract

Micro-lenses are produced on two mirror-coated fiber ends in an extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer (EFPI) by curing epoxy droplets to obtain a high-finesse resonator. The high-finesse resonator is easy to construct, and can be used as a highly sensitive sensor at a low cost. The experimental results show that a temperature resolution of 0.025 °C and a strain resolution of 0.0625 νε can be achieved with such an EFPI.
