Abstract

The method for the adaptive generation of hexahedral element mesh with grid-based approach is presented, based on the geometric features of solid model. The first step is to identify CAD model and construct the refinement information fields of the source points based on the geometric features of solid model, then generate the core mesh. Secondly, match the mesh to the characteristic boundary of the solid model. To handle the degenerated elements and improve the quality of the resulting mesh, mesh smoothing and topology optimization are employed. The effectiveness and robustness of the algorithm are tested through the applications.
