Abstract

This paper proposes a fuzzy inference method based on a weighted average of fuzzy sets. The method can provide inference consequences in the form of normal and convex fuzzy sets. Moreover, it can clarify the maximum value of fuzziness in inference consequences in advance of inference operations. The method is applied to the connection admission control for Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networks. The above-mentioned properties of the proposed method effectively contribute to guaranteeing the required transmission quality in ATM networks. The simulation studies show the feasibility of the proposed inference method.
