Abstract

To study on fragments dispersal characteristics and energy gain effects of a heart-shaped charge, comparisons with the same quality and size of an axisymmetric charge kinetic energy distribution and penetration effects on a target plate were simulated by LS-DYNA in fragments scattering. Results show that fragment proportion of the heart-shaped charge in radial dispersal angles between -30° and 30° is 94.3%, and the axisymmetric charge is only 16%. Fragment velocities of the heart-shaped charge are range from 2 097 m/s to 349 m/s, which are lower than that of the axisymmetric charge. The total kinetic energy of fragments of the heart-shaped charge is 4 times of the axisymmetric charge in radial dispersal angles between -5° and 5°. Research illustrates that the heart-shaped charge enhances fragments distribution density, kinetic energy and penetration effects on a target plate in the specified direction.
