Abstract

We propose a FEC-assist decision-directed equalizer to mitigate inter-symbol interference in bandwidth-limited IM/DD systems. Experimental validation on a 160 Gbit/s PAM4 interconnction demonstrates over 1.5 dB receiver sensitivity improvement compared with conventional methods.
