Abstract

The traditional migration algorithms for ground penetrating radar (GPR) imaging have the disadvantages of low accuracy and high computational complexity. Therefore, a fast frequency-domain reverse-time migration (FRTM) algorithm for GPR based on nonuniform fast Fourier transform (NUFFT) is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm is formulated by spectrum Green’s function, which avoids the multiple extrapolations of forward and backward wavefields, and greatly saves the calculation and storage resources. Furthermore, NUFFT is adopted to handle the uneven and huge amount of data collected in the actual scenario. Therefore, the rapid accumulation of imaging results can be achieved for each shot in the frequency domain. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can formulate the same high-quality focused image as conventional time-domain RTM algorithm but less time and storage resources are required. The proposed algorithm is suitable for real-time imaging of GPR equipment.
