Experimental study of VGT on fuel economy and power of diesel engine

Abstract

VGT60 turbocharger was applied to the YN4100QBZ diesel engine, testing bed was set up and testing procedure was determined. The systematic and comprehensive experiment was conducted using VGT real-time monitoring system. Adjusting characteristics of VGT to the boost pressure and air ratio were investigated. The obtained data under various conditions were analyzed and the comparison of fuel economy and power with those of the original engine was made. The influencing behaviors and effectiveness of VGT on engine fuel economy and power were obtained, and those supply the basic data for optimum matching of VGT to diesel engine under various operating conditions.
