Abstract

The TiAlN/TiN composite coatings were deposited on rotating seal ring by a multi-arc ion plating method. The composition, structure and mechanical properties of the coatings were investigated using several analytical techniques, such as XRD, SEM and Micro hardness test. The mesured and tested results show that the main phase of TiAlN/TiN composite coatings is TiN, which growth is from crystal surface (111); the surface roughness of the coatings is 0.48μm; the film base bonding force is 40 N; the micro hardness of coatings is HV = 2035; the friction coefficient of the coatings is 0.37; the average wear rate of the coatings is 7.96 × 10-10m3/h.
