Abstract

13X Cu2+-carrying antibacterial zeolite was prepared through liquid-phase ion-exchange. The antibacterial properties of this Cu-antibacterial zeolite against Escherichia coli (8099), Bacterium pyocyaneum (ATCC27853 ), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC6538 ) and Bacillus cereus were found to be excellent. The antibacterial rates attained were found to be in excess of 99. 99%. Furthermore, experimental method of quantifying the antibacterial rate was improved.
