Abstract

Experimental and numerical investigations were carried out on the plastic dynamic response of cylindrical structure subject to underwater explosion loading in water tank. Different plastic deformations of the cylinders were measured for different charge weights, propagating distances and angles. New procedures of fluid-structure interaction were introduced to deal with the boundary condition of the fluid. Both of the deformation displacements of test and finite element analysis were quite in agreement. The comparisons showed that calculation of underwater explosion by MSC. DYTRAN FEM program is feasible.
