Abstract

A method for substituting model experiments for the prototype experiments of concrete penetration by rigid projectile is presented. The similarity criteria of the model experiments of concrete penetration are established and validated. Based on the similarity theory, the projectile velocity, the material of projectile and target and the incidence angle are taken into account. One prototype experiment and seven model experiments are carried out to validate the similarity criteria. The projectile velocities of the model experiments and the prototype experiments are not proximal, so a grey pre-estimation model of maximum penetration depth is established. The values of grey pre-estimation of model experiments and the results of prototype experiments are contrasted. The similarity criteria are validated through the error analysis.
