Abstract

Experiments of the waste heat recovery system of an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) vehicle with two scroll expanders were conducted with R123 as the working fluid. Experimental results show that, with the increase of heat temperature, the system mass flow rate range of working fluids moves to the large flux area and system power output is increased. Under constant heat condition, the system power output is increased initially and keeps constantly with the increase of mass flow rate. Under constant mass flow rate condition, the rotation speeds of both expanders are decreased and power output is increased with the increase of system load. The rotation speed-power output curve moves to high speed and high power area gradually. Under the same heat temperature and mass flow rate of working fluids, the system power output increases initially and then keeps constantly with the increase of exhaust flow rate.
