Abstract
The link operation modes are closely related to system performance, capacity and redundancy of air-ground VHF data link. The effects of two existing different link operation modes (CAT-A and CAT-B) on performance of VHF data link are presented. The analysis is based on embedded Markov chain model. Simulation examples are given and compared. A new and effective link operation mode is proposed.
