Abstract

By analyzing ontology association and hierarchy, the ontology integration method was proposed which was classified as: ontology mapping, ontology alignment and ontology merging. And the evaluation criteria were put forward. Contents of evaluation criteria included the semantic intensity of the integration method, the richness of information employed, the depth of ontology components which would be integrated, and the adaptability of ontology integration method. Furthermore, based on these criteria, five typical ontology integration methodologies were analyzed and compared, including syntactic-level method, Chimaera, PROMPT, FCA-Merge and IF-Map. Their advantages and disadvantages were also pointed out. Finally, the development trends of ontology integration method were described.
