Abstract

Butylene sulfite (BS) with cyclic structure has been applied as a new organic solvent to ethylene carbonate (EC)-based electrolytes for lithium ion batteries. The experiments show that the EC-BS complex electrolyte possesses high thermal stability and ionic conductivity. Meanwhile, the good low temperature performance compared to EC electrolyte may favor EC-BS electrolyte. The results indicate that the EC-BS electrolyte is characterized by a high electrochemical compatibility allowing the cycling of the graphite, LiMn1.99Ce0.01O4 and LiFePCV C electrodes with good reversibility.
