Abstract

An efficient underdetermined wideband direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation method using a single uniform linear array (ULA) is proposed. The subband model is first obtained by applying frequency decomposition manner to the received signals. Then, apart from averaging subband DOA estimation results by employing narrowband sparse iterative covariance estimation (SPICE), a joint weighting wideband sparse iterative covariance estimation (JW-WSPICE) method is introduced by leveraging the information from multiple interesting subbands jointly. Compared to existing group-sparsity-based wideband DOA estimation methods, similar performance can be achieved while the selection of hyperparameter via a time-wasting search process is avoided.
