title = "Effects of cations on electrochemical behavior of Ni(II)/Ni in a hydrophobic ionic liquid",
abstract = "The effects of cations, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium (EMI+), 1-methyl-propylpiperidinium (PP13+), and 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium (BMP+), on electrodeposition of nickel were investigated in a hydrophobic room-temperature ionic liquid with the anion of bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide (TFSA-) containing Ni(TFSA)2. The UV-vis spectra showed that the changes in the cations have little effect on the coordination environment of Ni(II) species. The largest cathodic peak current in EMITFSA was obtained from the cyclic voltammetric results. The reductive overpotentials of Ni(II)/Ni have the similar data probably due to the same solvation structure of Ni(II) species in these three electrolytes. The effects of cations on the morphology of the Ni deposits were also characterized by SEM.",
