Abstract

The microstructure and mechanical properties of 20MnSi steel with different Si, Mn content and self-tempering temperature were analyzed. The results indicate that the outside structure of 20MnSi steel is refined as self-tempering temperature increases, which make the strength and ductility of 20MnSi steel well-matched; the quenching degree of 20MnSi steel increases as the content of Si and Mn rises, which enhances the mechanical properties of 20MnSi steel dramatically. In such a way, it might be expected to manufacture HRB400 barl through TMCP, proper Si, Mn content and high self-tempering temperature without adding micro alloying elements such as Nb and V.
