Abstract

Aimed at the large deformation problem of industry cooling tower shell, the mathematical model for the structural vibration of a rotational shell is established, of which the geometric nonlinearity in normal direction is taken into consideration. Perturbation method is used to solve the vibrational equations, and the first order approximation is considered. The effect of nonlinear geometric behavior on the response of rotational shell is analyzed. It is shown that the effect of the geometric nonlinearity can be equivalent to external load.
