Abstract

Freeform optical system based on non-imaging optics design method is essential to improve the performance of solid state lighting. A simplified model is proposed in this paper to simulate the color temperature angular distribution of first packaged white LED source, and the effect of freeform optical system on this angular distribution is studied. Both simulation and experimental results show that the distribution uniformity can be significantly improved after installing the freeform optical system.
