Abstract

On the basis of study on the M. Demi's edge detection algorithm, a novel algorithm is presented. This algorithm utilizes the fact that the center of mass of local area having edge will move. It judges whether the edge exist by offset. This algorithm overcomes the disadvantages in M. Demi's algorithm which cannot process those areas without proper edges. It can be seen from results of simulation that this algorithm is a very effective in edge detection. The algorithm is a practical and promising image processing algorithm.
