Abstract
A dynamic model of a free piston generator (FPG) was developed considering the operation principle of FPG based on dynamics and thermodynamics equations. Then the dynamics characteristic of FPG has been achieved through the numerical solution of the dynamic model. Furthermore the influence of the input parameter of FPG system characteristics and the frequency characteristic were discussed. The results showed that FPG is a self-exciting system and stable performance could be achieved by appropriate control.
