Abstract

Deployed in unattended and hostile environment, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) with unique characteristics has been facing many challenges that traditional security systems never encountered and cryptography based security solutions are not sufficient for solving these problems. Reputation and trust-based framework has proven to be an effective approach to help decision-making and to promote node collaboration while each node's reputation and trust is built over time. We noticed that when a node is acquired a bad reputation for malfunctioning of radio/sensors or being under malicious attacks and when the node is suspended designated task for entering the period of dormancy, it is rational to temporarily rule out this bad node in order for the cluster the bad node belongs to to accomplish its intended purpose. In addition, when an event occurs and reported cluster head (CH), CH has to verify its validity by using threshold group signature co-signed by t(Threshold1) nodes or gain enough confidence from reporting nodes if the sum of their trust value is larger than another threshold TH2 (Threshold2). Motivated by these perspectives, we use dynamic (t,n, threshold group signature to approbate an event and to add/remove members for reputation and trust based framework and use the concept of reputation and trust for CH to gain belief when events occur. In this paper, we propose a dynamic group signature scheme based integrity preserving event report protocol (GIERP). A few modifications have been made based on previous works and we conclude this paper by giving security analysis and simulation results.
