Abstract

A shear impact test was carried out on a polymer-bonded explosive (PBX) simulant by using the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB). The displacement and strain fields under typical loading conditions were analyzed by using high-speed photography combined with digital speckle correlation technique, the dynamic deformation and damage mechanisms of the PBX simulant were discussed. The results demonstrate that DIC method is viable to measure the dynamic behavior of PBX simulant.
