Abstract

In this paper, Discrete Time Sliding Mode Control (SMC) of DC-DC buck converter is presented that is designed utilizing two different techniques. One of these is design of discrete time controller by emulation design approach. The second one is the design of discrete time controller based on approximate discrete time equivalent system model. Performance of SMC based on emulation design and SMC based on approximate equivalent system model is compared for DC-DC buck converter. Results based on MATLAB simulations show that the SMC based on approximate equivalent model is a chattering-free control, gives fast dynamic response and shows robustness to uncertainties.
