Abstract

A differential encoding/decoding scheme was proposed for Alamouti's orthogonal space time code (STC). Amplitude/phase-shift keying (APSK) signals and two transmit antennas were used for the scheme. The performance of the differentially encoded/decoded STC-32APSK with 4.5 bits/sec/Hz was found to be significantly better than that of the differential encoded/decoded 16APSK with 4 bits/sec/Hz over quasi-static channels.
