Abstract
The capacity of nickel metal hydride batteries decreased rapidly during charge/discharge process. The major cause leading to the failure of battery has been demonstrated to be the expansion of positive electrode, oxidation and pulverization of alloy, decomposition of electrolyte and dehydration of separator. The updated process on recycling and reusing of spent nickel metal hydride batteries are reviewed basis of the degradation analysis involved. The aim of the paper is to find out a simple and feasible way to reuse spent nickel metal hydride batteries.
