Abstract

To develop a mixed-flow turbine in order to achieve the high performance at high specific speed, an improved turbine design method, which links rotor flow analysis with turbine performance predication by introducing the evaluation of the rotor velocity distribution, was carried out. With this method, a mixed-flow turbine was developed for the H1F turbocharger which is currently used in the J6110Z diesel. The predicted performance of the mixed-flow turbine shows a higher peak efficiency at lower velocity ratio u/c0 and a wider range of high efficiency compared to the current radial turbine.
