Abstract

The variable geometry turbine(VNT) can improve the low-speed performance and exhaust e-mission from turbocharged diesel engines. The JK80 VNT turbocharger, which is deigned for the CA6106 diesel engine, is computed and the turbine experiment of VNT with rotating vanes is undertaken. The results show that turbine performance can be adjusted effectively. The matching test of the CA6106 diesel engine with VNT is also carried out, and the results are compared with those with waste-gate. It can be shown that using VNT, the characteristic curves of the fuel consumption at high speed and the smoke in external are decreased.
