Abstract

The content of residual acrylic monomer in super absorbent resin was determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The influence of conditions of reaction, the methods of disposal of the product and the granularity of the resin on the content of residual acrylic monomer is described. The results indicate that with the prolongation of reaction time, the content of residual acrylic acid gradually decreases, while with increase in reaction temperature, the content of residual acrylic acid quickly decreases, and when the particle size becomes smaller, the content of residual acrylic acid grows promptly. Washing with ethanol can remove the residual acrylic acid in super absorbent resin effectively.
