N2 - A dual-band antenna with circular polarization (CP) in the GPS band and an ultra-compact artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) for metal-bezel smartwatches is proposed. The AMC structure is designed to provide phase reflection for GPS band, with the AMC's reflection phase tuned by four capacitors, resulting in an ultra-compact AMC, which is even smaller than the smartwatch antenna above it. The proposed AMC improves the dual-band antenna's front-to-back ratio (FBR), gain, and minimizes wrist effect, rendering the proposed AMC a viable option for implementation in commercial smartwatches.
