Abstract

In this paper, a 0.14 THz lens integrated on-chip antenna, extensively used in terahertz monolithic integrated circuit (TMIC), is presented. The planar antenna is composed of a double slot radiating element, a microstrip transmission line and a defected ground structure (DGS). Surface-wave losses and back radiation are reduced and a gain of 23.8 dB is obtained by using a λ/4 metallic reflective cavity and an extended hemispherical lens. More than 55% (78GHz) impedance bandwidth is achieved and a relatively low side lobe is gotten by optimizing the parameters of the DGS on the ground of the microstrip line.
